That is amazing. Might be of limited use where I sail: shallow inland lake bottoms will not be kind to the foils (see a pic of her bottom, here) nor would fickle winds let you get a good head of steam up.
But put a cruiser trimaran on foils on a long reach across the ocean ....
The French trimaran foil l'Hydroptère: 500m and 1,000m - faster than 50 knots.
This is bloody amazing. Can't wait to see what happens as the architectural implications of this design work their way into other classes of sailing vessels.
